In recent years, the property has been the Canalside Cafe, serving hot and cold drinks during the day, and the Canalside Bar at night, serving alcholic beverages.
The Cafe / Bar faces the Worcester Bar at Gas Street Basin, where the Worcester & Birmingham Canal meets the Birmingham Canal Navigations Mainline.
Originally a barrier between two separate canal companies, these days it is always open, and boats head through it all the time, such as the Waterbus.
The pub has featured on TV documentaries over the years, usually on canal towpath walks or something like Great Canal Journeys etc.

Behind the pub on Gas Street is the studios of ITV Central.
