The Flapper - details

The Flapper is a Canalside Pub & Music Venue, located on Kingston Row.

The venue was built in 1969, as a pub called The Longboat.

It was taken over by the Firkin brewery in the 1990s and was named the Flapper & Firkin.

In 2007 the business was taken over by Samantha Campbell-Whyte, and it was renamed to The Flapper.

The pub is also on Cambrian Wharf, which is near the start of the Birmingham & Fazeley Canal at the Farmers Bridge Locks.

In 2018, developers proposed knocking down the live music venue and building flats here.

The pub remained open until early 2020. There was even a narrowboat at Cambrian Wharf in late 2019 saying SAVE THE FLAPPER

Despite what the developers wanted, locals and Birmingham City Council were able to get The Flapper to reopen by July 2021.
